What happens if I paint a wooden bed frame without primer?
I bought a can of Latex Enamel paint to paint a bed frame made of solid, unfinished pine. I thought I wouldn't need primer because of all the tiny nooks and crannies in the wood itself, but after I finished painted and did some research online, they all say to prime the surface first.
I only applied two thin coats. Will I see any peeling or cracking since I did not prime?
And also, would there be any health consequences, e.g. paint dust?
Since it was unfinished raw wood you might be ok. Primer is a good base and usually covers knots etc so they wont bleed through the finish coat. If the paint you used is a pretty good quality there's a very good chance your bed frame will be fine. I dont see any possible health issues either. I will say if you do see anything bleeding through down the line you can prime the spot with kilz and go over again with the finish coat.
