Volkswagen Ft. Lauderdale dealer proud of safety ratings

If safety is your top concern for buying a vehicle, you might want to check out Volkswagen models first. The German automaker had an amazing six models that earned the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety Top Safety Pick award for 2011. That's more than any other auto brand and Volkswagen Ft. Lauderdale dealers are quite proud of the achievement.

To earn this award, a vehicle must have the highest rating in all four tests conducted by the IIHS, including front, rear and side impact and roof-strength in roll-over testing. But Volkswagen pledges not to stop there. The company plans to keep working to improve safety in all into models.

"Volkswagen has shown an enduring commitment to engineer vehicles with safety performance that goes beyond basic government standards," Institute president Adrian Lund commented. "The 2005 Jetta was the first car to ace the Institute's tough side impact crash test, and Volkswagens like the new 2011 Jetta continue to set the standard with the highest safety ratings."

The models earning the IIHS awards for 2011 include the Volkswagen Jetta, Jetta Sportwagen, Golf four-door, GTI four-door, Tiguan and Touareg. In order to even qualify to be tested by the IIHS, vehicles must have electronic stability control and head protection airbags.

IIHS is a non-profit safety research organization that chooses models annually to receive recognition for outstanding safety performance in multiple crash scenarios. Two of Volkswagen's newest 2011 models were among those receiving the safety awards: the Jetta sedan and the Touareg SUV. The Jetta was totally redesigned this model year and is still very affordable with a starting price of $15,995. The new 2011 Touareg was the only large SUV to earn a Top Safety Pick from the IIHS.

That's quite an honor and certainly gives Palm Beach used cars customers something to think about when purchasing the next family vehicle. Volkswagen just keeps giving us more for the money.
